When Tessa was young, she'd say "I love you more than a pear and I hate pears."🙄 We later found out she has OAS, an allergy to many raw fruits and vegetables. Thankfully when cooked the protein gets broken down and the reaction ceases. So she baked us these beauties the other day. This is autumn at its best. Local farm fresh pears baked with a cinnamon crumble topping, it’s like a healthy pie without the crust and a lot less work!
INGREDIENTS:
4 ripe pears
6 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp white sugar
1 1/4 tsp cinnamon, divided
1 c. old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 c. finely chopped raw almonds
1/3 c. brown sugar
kosher salt
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 400º. Halve pears and scoop out some of the centre to fit the oatmeal crumble. Brush insides of pears with 2 tablespoons melted butter and sprinkle with a 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp sugar.
In a medium bowl, combine oats, almonds, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Pour remaining melted butter into bowl and mix ingredients until fully coated.
Spoon into pear halves.
Bake until pears are soft, about 30 minutes.
Top with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream or greek yogurt and serve warm.
We love cooked pears! xx2DA
